I thought we'd try another technical challenge this week. This week's challenge is inspired by a post I read over at Pioneer Woman Photography, a great photography blog!

The Challenge:
The Rule of Thirds

Submit three photographs of the same subject demonstrating the rule of thirds. You can either take three photos, cropping your image differently, or take one picture and crop it three different ways.

Okay--I had a lot of fun with this one. I took 3 different pictures, starting with the farthest away and getting closer. The middle one is my favorite--I have it set as the background on my laptop! I think the first one it too broad and the garage adds a distraction. The last one is too close and she is too centered. Thanks for "forcing" me to learn a little bit more about the technical aspect of photography.

For those of you who don't know, Lilah (the dog in the pictures), has been very sick. She was in the ER for the weekend and she just came home last night and I took these pictures today. I'm so glad to have her home! The doctors believe there is something going on in her brain, but we can't afford the testing for that, so we are working with medication and we'll see how we do! =)

Addison Karrie Hansen joined this wonderful world on Thursday October 1, 2009 at 2:36 pm. She was 7 lbs 3 oz and 19.5 inches long. She's healthy as a horse and just amazing! I'm so happy for Phil and Amanda (my brother and sister-in-law). Thank you, Lord, for this beautiful blessing!

My laptop decided to take a ride down the pooper a few months ago, so we've been using Scott's laptop. Well, this challenge inspired me to pull mine out of the closet and see about getting it fixed! By the way, does anybody know of anybody that can fix a broken down computer for less than $100??

(graffiti can be anything that is writing- whether painted, scratched, or by other means- where it is not allowed- i.e. bathroom stalls, underpasses, bridges, road signs, etc...)

This weeks was fun for me! I instantly knew of 1 spot that I wanted to take shots. And I think they turned out pretty well!

These 2 were taken up north at our cottage in West Field. In the good ole days of outhouses, there was a tradition that when you were taking care of business, you would jot a note on one of the walls in the outhouse. Well, those days are over, but we can't let go of the walls of the outhouse because of the memories that are written on it. I tried to find one that had to do with me specifically, and I found the one that noted my very first trip up north, but it was way back in a dark corner and it didn't turn out well. I'll include it at the bottom so you all can see!! I was only a month old when I made the trip! :-) The first one is the inside of the door that would face you as you sat. The second one is the left wall as you sat. We had a few good artists in the family! It's fun to read some of the other things that are written, as well! They'll give you a good laugh!

This is a picture of Hawley Environmental. It's a school located on Hawley and Wells in Milwaukee. There's an entire wall dedicated to a teacher that had passed away, and I couldn't not take a picture of it. The colors were amazing! So it's technically supposed to be there, but it's painted kind of graffiti style...ish!

A Day in the Life of a Racquetball Player

A Night Full of Softball...and rain!

I went to the St. John's Men's softball game on tuesday night, and sat with Emily and Baby J. It started out a nice evening and ended with a few rain drops. Of course, my camera was out and I caught a few good pictures. As always, comments and suggestions are welcome! :-)

This was an interesting week for me. Not totally excited about these pictures, but I think they're the best I got!

I know the challenge said 3 pictures....so here's just a funny one that I took along the way. The food is so good, the cat likes it, too!!

I think my favorite picture is the first one. I like the portion of Lilah that got in the picture and the angle of the bag.
